We are committed to producing furniture that ‘treads lightly’ within our environment and that includes a pledge to be part of a greener, more circular future.

At every touchpoint within our business we consider how we might reduce our impact on the planet, starting with our intention to create beautiful, timeless furniture built to last.

This is work in progress; we are learning as we go along, creating targets and developing ways to evaluate our forward steps.

Conscious production

Manufacturing in Britain in our own factory allows us to keep a close eye on quality and gives us more control over our production and our materials.

We look to innovate where we can, conserving resources and making responsible choices. For instance, we heat our factory team, rather than the wider space around them, through targeted heating panels.

We are working to ensure all of our materials and components are made from sustainable resources.The hardwood rails of our sofa frames are FSC certified European birch. This is a fast-growing and self-seeding tree that can be harvested after 70 years. The forests are harvested in small plots, typically of one hectare, which gives a good age spread of trees, helping with the diversity of fauna.

Our hardwood plywood is similarly FSC certified European birch.

Sustainable fabrics and filling

We work with respected suppliers to bring you high quality materials. Wherever we can we offer more environmentally conscious choices, from eco fabrics manufactured entirely from recycled materials, to cushion filling fibre made from recycled plastics which is helping to lessen the pollution of our rivers and seas.

Quallofil Blue cushion filling is created by innovative fibre producer ADVANSA in partnership with Plastic Bank, a charity whose mission is to help reduce the flow of plastic waste to rivers, seas and beaches. Each Quallofil Blue sofa cushion is made from 100% recycled plastic, which equates to more than 400 recycled bottles. This filling fibre meets the highest quality standards for sofa cushions giving them a long-lasting performance while keeping their original shape, and a significantly positive effect on the environment.

Responsible deliveries

Being a UK-based business, manufacturing at home and serving predominantly UK customers, means that the environmental impact of shipping and delivery is kept to a minimum.

All our sofas and chairs are wrapped in transit packaging which is responsibly recycled.

Having our own logistics division for deliveries also helps us manage journeys in a more sustainable way. We operate a modern fleet of low emission Euro 6 vehicles.

Recycling partnerships

We partner with Clearabee, a waste recycling company with over 100 teams based around the UK, which offers same day furniture collection with full tracking of collected waste. Clearabee also supports the British Heart Foundation, Shelter and the Re-Use Network with the donation of furniture which meets the required standards for others to make use of.

We also partner with Haines Collection, a pioneering platform for the resale of surplus textiles and other home furnishing materials that may otherwise end up in landfill, who are helping us to make a small but positive change to reducing our impact on the planet.
