any fabric in the world

In our showrooms, we morph rapidly from being an online retailer of sofas, to a literal wonderland of colour, shape & texture, where people who adore sofas, chat and spend their days. Our Workshops are just outside Nottingham; we are pretty obsessed with British is best... at least when it comes to all things Sofa.

Find our fabrics on the site too plain?

Then we can knock your socks off with spots and stripes; florals or fifties mobiles; velvets or printed linens... the choice is literally endless.

Got a roll of much loved fabric at home that you would die to put on a sofa?

No worries, as my Aussie partner might say, we'll soon show you what shape it
looks best on.

British Made
british made spec

We make these sofas in our factory in Nottingham. We're pretty proud of this.

This is not the case, sadly, with most of our competitors, who use mass production facilities in Eastern Europe or the Far East; the UK, and our factory in particular, is still a powerhouse in making really beautiful, great quality sofas, using traditional skills honed over hundreds of years.

This means we can do various things for you.

We get our sofas to you quickly - no hanging around waiting for a container from China, or a truck from Europe. In fact we deliver in about half the time of most of our competitors - 30 days approx.

Fancy a beautiful velvet devoré, a 50's linen print, or a Scottish wool plaid, and in the time it takes to plump your seat cushions we will have it in production in our factory. Got your own fabric that you want to put on one of our sofas... yes you're right, its no trouble whatsoever.

Made to measure

Speak to us, and that special size 150cm wide sofa to fit the sitting room bay window will also not be beyond our capabilities.

Awkward corners and other impediments to a painless delivery…

As you can imagine, deliveries of large pieces of furniture is not always as easy and straightforward as we would like.

It is really important for a pain-free delivery that you have a good look at the outside of your house, the lane, the drive, overhanging trees, narrow doorways and staircases to flag up any possible difficulties before we set out to deliver your furniture.

Forewarned is forearmed and with the right information both you and we can be well prepared in advance to manage tricky access without tears.

We would appreciate it enormously if you could ensure, for example, that access via your lane or drive is wide enough and that overhanging trees will not impede the delivery van. Sometimes we can arrange a smaller van.

Check for fragile items outside that should be moved before delivery: statuary, flowerpots, bird tables, urns, hanging lanterns and so on.

Inside the house and staircase if necessary, take down any valuable paintings, mirrors or bric-a-brac that could be damaged en route.

A good idea is to cover valuable carpets or runners that could be damaged in the process of delivery with dust sheets, polythene or even newspaper.

In short, we very much hope you will take responsibility for giving us the clearest possible access and for protecting your belongings.

Sometimes where there is very restricted access we may be able to help you by delivering and collecting your sofas by taking out doors or window frames .

There is a risk that when we are making every effort to get your furniture in through a narrow space, your paintwork, wallpaper and woodwork may be damaged if there is a very tight squeeze.

Our team are very skilled, and where we need to remove glass, windows and doors, or need to deliver via a balcony, we can do this, but we hope you understand that accidental damage in the process is possible.

You will understand that this is why we need you to sign the agreement below indemnifying the delivery team and Sofas & Stuff against any damage to either furniture or property, before we can authorise your delivery.

Meanwhile, together, we will make every effort to deliver your furniture with every possible care. Here’s to a very happy delivery.

Mrs Hunter, October 2015

Superlative service throughout. Your company holds a wide range of furniture to suit many tastes which could make decisions daunting. The time given by your staff, the advice, the attention to detail, acknowledgement of budget considerations, the personal service, the professional expertise all contributed to making our choice of furniture an enjoyable and not a stressful experience. Not only did they engage fully in trying to provide the right 'look' for the room but they knew their fabric ranges and offered constructive suggestions at every stage. They understood the need for several visits, for daylight when choosing fabrics and for multiple samples. The wonderful service by Tracey Grout and her team in Basingstoke and from Pamela in Stroud made us confident of having spent wisely on these important items in our home. We are delighted to recommend them. More showrooms in the Midland area would be most welcome and make a huge difference.

Elizabeth Hunter, October 2015

It was all super.  Great service from Tracey and her team at Basingstoke but also at Stroud, where Pamela also helped us in our choices.  Tracey and her father were only too happy to give advice and search out samples of material so that the finished trio - a sofa and two chairs - co-ordinated beautifully with one another and the decor of my sitting room.  They all went the extra mile.  The Basingstoke showroom is a lovely place to visit, set in very pleasant surroundings and the area where the books of fabrics are housed is blessed with masses of natural light - it’s a sort of conservatory.

I am just very sorry that we have to travel so far to get to a showroom.  There’s nothing nearer for us (Warwickshire) than Stroud which is well over an hour away - more like an hour and a half.  Basingstoke only came into the equation as I happened to be at my daughter’s discussing new sofas and she lives nearby.  One of my sons had bought his sofas from Stroud and we suddenly found online, a showroom only twenty minutes away, so we visited it. (My grandchildren were with us and they were made very welcome, too.) However, if one is to make good choices not only in the design of the chairs and sofas but in their covering one must make several trips.  I made two to Basingstoke and one to Stroud which, although worth it, as I am delighted with the outcome, was nevertheless huge mileage and stressful journeying.

The delivery was very efficient.

Mrs R, April 2015

We were thrilled with the service we got from your Hungerford showroom and are completely delighted with the 3 sofas and 2 chairs we ordered.

We had help with the types of sofa, fabric. legs and measurements and we also had assistance with matching in 2 chairs with one of the sofas so they were harmonised but not a "se.t

Mrs Bradshaw, November 2014

The best furniture buying experience ever

We received very friendly and helpful service from Sofas and Stuff. We were given help and advice when trying to choose our chairs. The products are of fantastic quality, great style and comfort. The range of furniture on offer is far more 'chic' than anywhere else on the high street. Delivery was organised for precisely when expected and the delivery drivers were great.

The best furniture buying experience we have ever had and would thoroughly recommend Sofas and Stuff.

Mr Schooling, August 2014

Very satisfied.

Mr Hawkins, May 2014

The sofa and chairs are as stylish and comfortable as we had hoped, which is just as well as we took longer to choose them than to choose the new house!

The whole buying experience was enjoyable. The showrooms were well laid out (we visited Hungerford and Stroud), the staff friendly and helpful, the coffee(s) very welcome and the range of styles and fabrics appealing.

The chosen grand sofa and two chairs arrived on the date agreed and we were and remain very pleased with its appearance, comfort and colour fit with our other furnishings.

Mr Rootes, March 2014

Comfort at last

We're really delighted with our new sofa and armchairs.

The colour is perfect for our room and having been careful in our choice by trying them out we are very happy with how comfortable they are.

Will be asking Sofa's and Stuff if we can get hold of some of the fabric as remnants so we can make arm covers to protect them.

Polly, November 2013

Thank you very much for the bespoke Sennen (airforce blue trim on beige and blue stripe) chair that you delivered on 14th November.  We are delighted with it and plan to take a photograph to be placed in Nicky's book in the barn in Eridge.  Thank you for the efficient way the order was executed and delivered.  Please say "Thank you" to the craftsmen or women who made it in your workshop.  When you receive the photograph, please feel free to post it on your website, as it is unique and is a credit to your workmanship.  Plus the fact that my husband claims "It is the most comfortable chair that I have sat in".

Mrs Craig, September 2013

Great first impression, need to follow through for a better rating

Loved the show room and helpfulness of the staff. great selection of fabrics and styles on display. This really matched the impression set by the web site. There was a mistake on the order input which meant I was quoted the wrong price. This was quickly rectified with a follow up phone call on the Monday. My expectations were managed that 5 week delivery would be a stretch give the holiday period. In the event the time scale was met but after an incorrect notification of delivery (wrong day) which meant a day waisted hanging around. Very happy with the chair and footstool and that it arrived within 5 weeks! Would buy again.

Mrs Barttelot, September 2013

Sofa and stuff have gigantic choice of sofas and stuff plus the bonus of them providing gigantic service with helping client to not only chose the furniture but the fabric of your personal choice.

Jane, June 2013

Dear Carole and Alison and to all others who were involved with our orders....

Please accept my apologies for the lateness of this email of thanks for the safe arrival of the two chairs for Oates, which as with the Wadenhoe before were delivered and 'set up' by two of your very competent and courteous delivery team.

In both cases with the Sennen and the Angus, the choice of fabric, colour ways, texture and style of chair work so well in their setting at Oates and look to have been made with the high standard of 'attention to detail' that is just one of the many 'selling points' of Sofas and Stuff. Although they have had little use so far the initial comfort is certainly evident, and no doubt they will stand several years of R&R time.

These chairs together with the Wadenhoe, which is superb, complete our business, for the time being, with Sofas and Stuff. As mentioned in an earlier email to Carole, Sofas and Stuff has lived up to everything that our family friend's, (and customers of yours), the Horseman's, described. We are both very grateful for the time, explanations, guidance and follow up support which we received from you and of course we are very happy with the made and supplied orders. We have already passed on your details to friends following compliments made on the sofa and chairs and will continue to do so with confidence.

With all good wishes and thank you again.
