Fabrics
Cromarty - Ever fashionable, ever beautiful. The essential cotton/linen plain fabric. Wash, or dry clean in fitted covers. Suitable for loose or fitted covers.
Lundy - Pure class, 100% linen, woven in Lancashire, washable or fitted covers. My number one favourite but I'm linen mad.
Scarborough - An absolutely stunning velvet, woven in Lancashire, and suitable for both loose and tight covers. 88% cotton and crease resistant; almost unique in my experience for velvet.
Skye Wool - A beautiful wool check in two stunning colourways.
Finisterre - 63% cotton 37% linen mix that simply makes the best washable loose covers. My most popular fabric since 1979.
Slats
We scoured the UK for a manufacturer of a slat system like this and failed, so we have had to go across the Channel to France to get them. They are slightly sprung, have two central legs for stability and are incredibly easy to put together. Our delivery guys reckon 8 minutes is what it takes to assemble our beautiful beds in your bedroom.
Legs
We only use solid European oak feet, turned in the factory wood mill, which then form part of the integral frame of the bed. Mostly we stain the oak feet with a lime stain, but with some of designs like the Pentlow we "antique" the feet first and then stain them a dark aged colour.
British Made
 |
We make these beds in our factory in Nottingham. We're pretty proud of this.
|
This is not the case, sadly, with most of our competitors, who use mass production facilities in Eastern Europe or the Far East; the UK, and our factory in particular, is still a powerhouse in making really beautiful, great quality beds, using traditional skills honed over hundreds of years.
This means we can do various things for you.
We get our beds to you quickly - no hanging around waiting for a container from China, or a truck from Europe. In fact we deliver in about half the time of most of our competitors - 30 days approx.
Fancy a beautiful velvet devoré, a 50's linen print, or a Scottish wool plaid, and in the time it takes to get the sheets from the linen cupboard, we will have it in production in our factory. Got your own fabric that you want to put on one of our beds... yes you're right, it's no trouble whatsoever.
