Introducing Kate, our latest interior design consultant

My name is Kate, interior design trends are my passion. I am the newest design consultant in the Basingstoke sofa showroom. I have a keen interest in following the latest interior design trends. I have been given the job of writing a blog each month to hopefully inspire you to come and visit us … either by popping into the showroom or having a look online at our extensive range of sofas, chairs and beds.

Interior design trends and ideas

Each month I will give you ideas and tips on how to update your home and stay on-trend. I will discuss the latest interior design trends and inspire you with all the wonderful products out there!

This month I’m all over the colour Green and my new crush…wallpaper…

For me wallpaper totally transforms and revamps even the smallest space and there are so many incredible designs out there…House of Hackney, Cole and Son, Linwood, Pierre Frey, Andrew Martin the list is endless.

We have recently updated our showroom by wallpapering our Fabric Room and Gallery Room with local designers Barneby Gates wallpapers and we think they look fantastic. It really makes a difference to a space.

Wallpaper adds detail and texture to a room

If you are unsure about papering a whole room, then paper one wall or just the ceiling (loving House of Hackneys florals on walls and ceiling) This can be just as effective, it’s so much better to be cautious and let your confidence grow. I was very nervous at first but now I have the bug and want to paper everywhere!
There are loads of apps available, that help you envisage your space in the design you fancy, if you feel too nervous to take the plunge. So now everyone can access the latest interior design trends on their mobile on the go.

Add a splash of green to your home

Artichoke Thistle in spring green by Barneby Gates would breathe new life into a room. A new throw or two, some cushions and maybe a new rug could totally revitalise your room without costing the earth.

I’m also loving our Kentwell 3 seater sofa in Napoli grass velvet teamed with the Pentlow footstool in William Morris Acanthus Slate fabric that is featured in our latest brochure.
By using green velvets you can make a classic sofa really stand out, it feels, contemporary, luxurious and high end, but it would still look great in any home. It’s definitely in my shopping basket!

Designer Fabric Brands

Sofas and Stuff are proud to partner with all of the top designer fabric brands. We offer on-trend fabrics and prints in an unrivalled choice of colours, patterns and styles. Browse our website, where we have carefully selected a range of our most popular fabrics, however popping into our Basingstoke sofa store you will uncover our full fabric library. We are sure you will find something you will love to come home to.

One of the most on-trend fabric designers at the moment is William Morris. These fabrics are everywhere at the moment from High Street fashion chains to National Trust Shops so the Pentlow footstool from our brochure is a perfect way to partake in a trend that won’t date but will last and last. It will be in our showroom very soon!

Finally on the subject of green, we will soon have the Penthallow Footstool in BG Cameo Pheasant fabric in store, we know it is going to look stunning! So make sure you are one of the first to see it.
