Best of British for Valentines Day

03 February 2012

It's nearly that time of year again (no, not Christmas) - Valentines Day. The minute that we flip that calendar page over to February, you know it's time to start planning that special day for your loved one. And what better way to celebrate than with something that has been lovingly handmade right here in Britain. In honour of this special day, we thought we would put together a special edition of our blog series "Best of British", giving you a few ideas for some great gifts for that special someone.

These beautiful 'promises' may not cut it as your main present but we couldn't resist including them. There are three promise tickets to choose from, each with their own envelope so it's really up to you what you want to promise, whether that is breakfast in bed,  a weekend away or a candlelit dinner. All of these promises are made by My Little Loves - a collection of personally selected British accessories by owner, Nichola Holtby, which we just love. There's plenty more present potential on the website so make sure you jump over and have a look.

Nothing says "I love you" like a personalised gift and what better way to say it than with a beautiful piece of pottery from quintessentially British brand, Emma Bridgwater. You can pick your pattern (hearts, stars, polka dots or roses to name a few), shape (mugs, teapots or plates) and message - which you can have either on the side or the bottom. It really is all up to you. Emma Bridgewater has to one of our favourite British interiors brands and we're certainly crossing our fingers for something from them this Valentines Day.

But this one has to be our favourite from the collection - a simple way to show someone how much you love them. This hand decorated wooden heart hangs on simple satin ribbons and you can also add a personal message. Okey Dokey is a family business based in Canterbury, Kent and all their products are lovingly hand-made in their workshops. Beautifully British.
