Our Winter Sales Showcase

06 January 2012

We're not usually big fans of blowing our own trumpet - we like to think our sofas and can-do attitude speaks for itself. But it is that time of year again, no not Christmas - our big winter sale! Yes, that's right, you can get super comfortable for fewer pennies without compromising quality or comfort.

So if you sat down on your sofa this Christmas and felt anything less than blissed out, now is the time to pay a visit to one of our showrooms. Grab a cup of our very fine coffee or a glass of wine (if that's more your thing), take your time and look around. We're confident you'll find something that feels just right - it's all about the bum factor after all.

It can be a bit confusing working out what you like the most so we asked a few of our showroom staff what was on their wish list in this winter sale, to give you a little inspiration in your hunt for the perfect sofa or chair. And also to let you know, we really do have the experts on hand to help you when you drop into any of our showrooms.

Nikki Mitchell (Kent Showroom)

"One of my favourite sofas in our range has to be the Haresfield fitted cover sofa. I think this would look great in ' Linara Oatmeal' by Romo with contrasting buttons and scatter cushions in 'Art of The Loom Herringbone Moss'. My finishing touch would be to add a gorgeous Porthallow stool in 'Art Of The Loom Autumn Gold Plaid'. After all, you need somewhere to put your feet up after a hard day…"

Livvy Duncton (West Sussex Showroom)

"If I had to choose a sofa for the winter, it would have to involve different fabrics including wool and a velvet.  The sofa would have to be really comfy and snuggly for lots of lovely weekend duvet days.  My favourite piece in the winter sale is the gorgeous Stourhead sofa. The main body of the sofa would be in Villa Nova Mayfair Stucco, 2 of the large scatters in Warwick Bainbridge Natural which is 70% wool and 2 of the small scatters Velour Opera Beige (a velvet by Pierre Frey).  I would also have to have two extra bolsters in Warwick Addison Natural."

Mary Ferguson (Berkshire Showroom)

"The Sennen fitted cover chair has to be my top pick from our winter sale this year. It is immensely comfortable with perfect proportions plus the added bonus of a fitted chair is that there is nothing to plump! As for fabrics, my first choice would be the gorgeous linen chevron stripe by Andrew Martin in Cape Red. Just lovely…"

Ali Litten (Kent Showroom)

"I may have gotten a little carried away and theoretically redecorated a whole living room - it's hard not too when you're surrounded by so many nice things! I would start with the very popular Hambledon Corner Unit in one of our house fabrics, Fitzroy Buttermilk with the back cushions upholstered in ' Misaki - Mist' by Ian Sanderson. I would then add a splash of colour with some jazzy scatter cushions, covered in a mixture of another of our house fabrics, 'Fitzroy Chocolate' and ' Phoenix 2 - Rosemary' by Ian Sanderson. To complete the set, it would have to be a Petworth Snuggler, also covered in Fitzroy Buttermilk and a matching Porthallow footstool in ' Misaki - Mist' by Ian Sanderson. Now I just need a bigger house I think!"

Jenny Lowe (West Sussex Showroom)

"I LOVE my Clavering sofa that I have at home and therefore it would be my first choice if I had to start again in a different room.  I would cover it in a neutral linen such Lerwick which is one of our fabulous house fabrics and I'd then have the large scatters in a Baker Lifestyle Latika Stone/Oatmeal which is a pale paisley pattern with the background being the same colour as the sofa.  I like to keep the main body of a sofa in a neutral colour so that it can go anywhere if we ever move house or chose to put it in another room."

Claire Sutcliffe (Yorkshire Showroom)

'Having just got through Christmas with endless teenagers, students and the odd little person, my next purchase is going to be a large Stourhead loose cover sofa in Trafalgar Indigo with contrast scatters in Ian Mankin Kintyre Check Blue and Jura Stripe Blue - all of which can be whipped off and washed after the holidays are over! Do they really deserve anything so blissfully comfortable I have to ask myself… however the wonderful Stourhead makes a great extra bed too!

Andrew Cussins (Design Director and Sofa Connoisseur)

"I'm going to take this opportunity to introduce our new Lockton 2 seater sofa - the one in the picture below comes in our very own fabric range. It is designed to be like an English antique sofa, and I love it because the stripes give it the quirky twist that is at the core of everything we do. You know, the thing that makes you look at it twice, even though you are not sure why you are looking again. There is something off key about it, which I just love and I have a feeling this will be very popular in our winter sale."

"My second pick is another new arrival for 2012 and is called the Charleston. This sofa is in the Summer Heather colourway of our new Fair Isle fabric range. This is my favourite fabric I have designed in years. It is the epitome of English good taste, yet it is natural looking and would look great on really modern furniture too. Woven in Lancashire it carries on our beliefs about British manufacture, and it can be seen on our newest sofa shape right here."

So that's all for now - we've added these to our Pinterest page and if you fancy any of the sofas or fabrics on show in this post, just pop into our showroom or you can always order some free fabric samples if you haven't quite got the time.

We always love to hear back from our readers, so let us know what your favourite sofa or chair is from our range - why not leave us a comment below?
