As we've said before, we like to think we've got a little more
personality than most sofa companies so we thought we would start
introducing the great bunch of people we have working in our
showrooms so you can spot a familiar face when you come and visit
us. Last month, we introduced Livvy
Duncton, our resident organizational goddess and this month we
thought we'd introduce the latest member of our team, Nikki
Mitchell. Nikki has recently helped us open our latest showroom
near Tunbridge Wells which has been a major success and we couldn't
have done it without her sparkling personality, enthusiasm and
interior design know-how.

So without further ado we present unto you, the wonderful
Nikki…
How long have you been working for Sofas &
Stuff?
I work at the latest of the Sofas and Stuff Showrooms, which is
based in Eridge, on the borders of Kent and East Sussex. We have
been open for 7 weeks and have had lots of interest!
What's your favourite thing about working
there?
I have a background in design, having worked as an interior
designer in the past. My last post was as a teacher of textiles so
one of the things I enjoy about this job is being able to apply all
my previous experience to it.
Tell us a bit about your lifestyle
The new showroom is taking up a lot of my time at the moment but
when I am not working I like to take my dog out for long walks in
the deer park next to the showroom or meet friends in Tunbridge
Wells.
How would you describe your interior design
style?
My interior design style is a bit of a jumble…shabby chic meets
contemporary, my house is quite modern and a bit boring so I am
trying to make it as interesting as possible with quirky items and
colour. For instance I have a 5' wooden giraffe with fairy lights
wound around it as a standard lamp and one wall painted deep red in
my sitting room!
What pieces from Sofas and Stuff do you
currently have your eye on?
I am currently tying to decide on which sofa I want to put in my
new house, which is proving very difficult with so many to choose
from; my current favourite is a Hambledon corner unit in
our lovely soft Trafalgar house fabric and lots of colourful
cushions.

Describe your dream home
I once built my dream home in South Africa, it is right on the
beach with a big open sitting room/dining room and kitchen. It's an
'upside down' house with the living area above to take in the
glorious views, at night you can hear the whales.
What's a typical Friday night in for you?
I don't really have a typical Friday night as sometimes I will
go out (which always seems to make the weekend longer) but if I'm
at home I will watch a film if I can wrestle the remote from one of
my teenage kids.
Sofa or chair?
I always thought I was a sofa person, I like to kick off my
shoes and snuggle up for the evening, but recently I have realized
that there is nothing quite like having a really comfortable chair
to settle into with a good book.
Tell us a fun fact about yourself
I have a secret desire to keep chickens! I read poultry farming
magazines and deliberate at length about chicken houses and breeds,
in the mean time I just buy free range eggs from the fabulous new
farm shop just around the corner from my showroom.
Thanks Nikki - make sure you say hi if you pop into our Tunbridge Wells
showroom!
