Our design director, Andrew Cussins, dropped into 100% Design
last week, which is part of London Design Festival - it's safe to
say he liked what he saw! He was blown away by the creativity and
ingenuity of the designs on show, "Whenever I come to this show, I
always think - Wow! What an amazingly creative country we are.
Followed quickly by, has anyone worked out whether there is a
viable market for some of these products?"
It was an extra special event this year as it was the first time
Andy had 'live-blogged' from an event - all day he was beaming his
top picks up into the Twittersphere. But just in case you missed
the tweets or Twitter isn't really your thing then here's a round
up of Andy's top spots and inspiration.
Charlie Crowther-Smith

We say..
A key trend in interiors at present is painting and colour in
general on cabinet furniture. Charlie Crowther-Smith looks like a talented
new entrant into this arena. It really grabbed us.
Tomoko Azumi

We say..
As we are supposed to be experts in comfort, we're often drawn
to chairs. As every designer knows, to design a great chair is the
holy grail. The patan folding chair by Tomoko
Azumi, a designer we have worked with in the past, hits all the
right comfort buttons, unusual for wooden folding chairs. Its zen
like simplicity is typical of Azumi. A beautiful product.
Sam

We say..
Every now and then we see a sofa and think there might be
someone behind the product we would like to work with. Whilst there
are aspects of this sofa we are not 100% sure of, the designer has
real talent. So say hello to Sam, who could be doing some design
for us in the near future.
Corita Rose

We say...
Well this chair has just caught our attention. Are you suprised?
The fabrics, which are beautiful saturation printed velvet, are by
Corita
Rose, and the longer I looked at them the more we fell in love.
Ok not for everyone. But wow it could look brill.
Davey Lighting

We say...
Davey
Lighting has been around for about as long as the ships locker.
Recently purchased by a gentleman we've known for a long time,
Peter Bowles of BTC Lighting, a germ of an idea is growing in
our minds. Part of our new range for "Stuff"?
We're looking forward to the rest of London Design Festival and
hopefully you're now feeling as inspired as us! Decorex is next on
the list tomorrow and we can't wait to see what will be on show
there. You can follow our updates, live from Decorex, over on
Twitter, @sofasandstuff - we'll be using the #ldf11
