London Design Festival is officially over now but this year's
event was one of the best so far. We wound up this week of design
delights with Decorex - always a firm favourite in our diaries here
at Sofas & Stuff HQ. This year's event didn't fail to
disappoint and was well worth the trip over to the Royal Hospital
in Chelsea, where the show was being held.
Our design director, Andrew Cussins, was at Decorex yesterday
and was blown away by the show but also the location, "There is
something inspiring and uplifting about the gorgeous setting of the
Royal Hospital, Chelsea. The sight of the Chelsea pensioners
looking so smart, elegant and happy, always puts a smile on my
face"
So without further ado, we bring you some of our top picks from
the day…
Carolina Irving

We say...
We love this design by American, Carolina Irving. Hand printed on linen, it
combines so many traditions - its ethnic, yet modern. Smart yet
relaxed. Well done Carolina, and we hope we can work together some
day.
Pinch

We say...
We have known Russell for a few years now and I have some of his
furniture - two twig benches, at home. Russell
Pinch is, in my humble opinion, a designer of true talent. His
designs are almost Japanese in their simplicity and are made
utterly beautifully - always in the UK. They are dead cert design
classics. So a big cheer for Russell Pinch.
Rapture and Wright

We say...
We've been a fan of Rapture & Wright for about a year now.
Printed in the UK, the designs are really well executed, very
graphic, and timeless. A new star in the fabric worlds
firmament?
Margo Selby

We say...
Again, we have known Margo Selby for quite a few years now. Margo
designs textiles that at times feel thoroughly three-dimensional.
Her command of colour is also excellent, and the throw pictured I
can honestly say was my one "must have" moment of the show. These
will be appearing in our "stuff" category in December as great
pressies for Christmas.
Nina Campbell

We say...
Doyenne of the fabric world, Nina
Campbell has created a cracker of a new print here, in her
Montacute design. If this makes an appearance on Sofas & Stuff
floors soon I won't be surprised.
