Fabrics

Amandine - We literally looked at hundreds of prints before settling on Amandine. Just the right balance between pretty and sophisticated we thought, and bang on trend colours too.

Cromarty - Ever fashionable, ever beautiful. The essential cotton/linen plain fabric. Wash, or dry clean in fitted covers. Suitable for loose or fitted covers.

Lulgrove - There are stripes and stripes. Few we felt were as simple yet sophisticated as Lulgrove. We think it's the pin stripe that makes it a winner. A key home fashion trend for the next 12 months we predict.

Lundy - Pure class, 100% linen, woven in Lancashire, washable or fitted covers. My number one favourite but I'm linen mad.

Sanday - A lovely linen cotton mix woven exclusively for us in Lancashire.

Scarborough - An absolutely stunning velvet, woven in Lancashire, and suitable for both loose and tight covers. 88% cotton and crease resistant; almost unique in my experience for velvet.

Sole - When I think of linen fabrics, this is what I would always imagine. Its chunky, full of slubs, and two tone. For the fabric nuts amongst you, this is because in the warp we use pure untreated jute yarn and in the weft we bleach the yarn off-white.

Finisterre - 63% cotton 37% linen mix that simply makes the best washable loose covers. My most popular fabric since 1979.

Slats

We scoured the UK for a manufacturer of a slat system like this and failed, so we have had to go across the Channel to France to get them. They are slightly sprung, have two central legs for stability and are incredible easy to put together. Our delivery guys reckon 8 minutes is what it takes to assemble our beautiful beds in your bedroom.

Legs

We only use solid European oak feet, turned in the factory wood mill, which then form part of the integral frame of the bed. Mostly we stain the oak feet with a lime stain, but with some of designs like the Pentlow we "antique" the feet first and then stain them a dark aged colour.

British Made
british made spec

We make these sofas in our factory in Nottingham. We're pretty proud of this.

This is not the case, sadly, with most of our competitors, who use mass production facilities in Eastern Europe or the Far East; the UK, and our factory in particular, is still a powerhouse in making really beautiful, great quality beds, using traditional skills honed over hundreds of years.

This means we can do various things for you.

We get our beds to you quickly - no hanging around waiting for a container from China, or a truck from Europe. In fact we deliver in about half the time of most of our competitors - 30 days approx.

Fancy a beautiful velvet devoré, a 50's linen print, or a Scottish wool plaid, and in the time it takes to get the sheets from the linen cupboard, we will have it in production in our factory. Got your own fabric that you want to put on one of our beds... yes you're right, it's no trouble whatsoever.

Archetypal and timeless. Granny almost certainly had one, and if she didn’t, she certainly should have. The simply curved headboard is a great “clothes horse” for most fabrics, although our preference is for simple pinstripes to coordinate with the hand studded nail head detailing.

Isabella, March 2013

"A very successful experience at the Hungerford showroom. Sofas and Stuff were the only people able to supply a small enough sofa to suit our needs, Belinda was extremely helpful as we chose both sofa and bed and incredibly efficient on getting fabric samples delivered by 3rd party suppliers, follow-up and all correspondence. We will definitely use them again. Delivery was within the lead time we'd been given, they rang when they were half an hour away, bed assembled, old one removed and sofa installed without hitch. Delivery chap even explained how the plastic needed to remain on the mattress should we need to return it within the allotted 14 days and encouraged a proper check of everything before taking a signature.  All in all, delighted and looking forward to a return visit.
